Intricate mosaic patterns and timeless feminine curves take center stage in the house’s latest showcase.

Since its founding in 1884, Bvlgari has mined Rome’s layered past like a costume archive for the world’s most glamorous leading lady. Combining imperial mosaics, Roman architecture, and mythic symbolism, the Maison has turned motifs into jewelry capturing the Eternal City as its ultimate prima donna muse. Few collections capture that dialogue quite like Divas’ Dream, where even stones pose for portraits.

The collection surfaces with a suite of 18-carat yellow and rose gold pieces. In its treasure trove are pendant necklaces, earrings both sculptural and minimal, and single studs like little spotlights for the ear. Yet holding the gleam of pavé diamonds, pink and blue sapphires, and the luminous mother-of-pearl is a motif that has traveled across civilizations, cultures, and centuries, collecting stories the way a true diva collects standing ovations.

— TERME DE CARACALLA AND THE MOTIF

In the Baths of Caracalla, or Terme de Caracalla – one of ancient Rome’s grandest imperial complexes – hidden within its western palaestra lies a remarkable decorative cycle. Here, like choreography frozen peak performance, polychrome marble mosaics dating back to the imperial age form rhythmic patterns. Among them, the fan-shaped motif has stolen the show.

Concealed from public view for decades, their floral arcs captured the imagination of Bvlgari. In 2016, the Maison sponsored their restoration, bringing the forgotten design back into the spotlight and cementing the motif as both inspiration and cultural preservation.

Yet, this fan-shaped icon tells a broader story than Rome alone. Across civilizations, similar silhouettes have appeared again and again throughout history, symbolizing the feminine in all its many acts.

In ancient Egypt, the sacred blue lotus unfurls its petals in shapes uncannily similar to the Divas’ curve. We see them depicted in ancient Egyptian art, at times as a chalice from which pharaohs would drink a mystical elixir of fermented blue lotus. Believed to be a symbol of purity, spirituality, and rebirth, the bloom opens at dawn then bows goodbye each night. Rumor has it even Cleopatra consumed the flower among her rituals, making the lotus something of antiquity’s original backstage secret.

Travel east, and the motif transforms once again. In Japan, sensu folding fans emerged during the Heian period as markers of elegance and status among aristocratic circles. Delicately hand-painted and often exchanged as gifts, they were as much about refinement as they were ritual gestures of grace from one palm to the next. One could imagine them gossiping quietly in silk-lined salons, fluttering behind whispers between nobility’s divas.

China contributes yet another botanical echo: the ginkgo leaf, mirroring the same soft arc we see in Caracalla. The Ginkgo biloba is one of the oldest tree species on Earth, surviving for nearly 290 million years – an icon of resilience. Symbolizing peace and hope, the tree carries its own romantic mythology: for seeds to appear, male and female ginkgo’s must coexist. But in true diva fashion, the female tree may also bear fruit when planted beside water, where she can admire her own reflection.

Different continents, different eras, yet the same gentle curve repeats like a refrain in a timeless aria. Gathering these references, Bvlgari distills these designs into its fan-shaped emblem celebrating the eternal feminine in a headline act.

— THE COLLECTION

With all the flair of a curtain rising on opening night, Divas’ Dream introduced a plethora of jewelry crafted in luminous 18k yellow and rose gold, each one playing within the iconic fan silhouette in their own sparkling solos.

A pendant necklace in yellow gold anchors the collection, pairing deep black onyx with a brilliant-cut diamond and a skirt of pavé stones. As a miniature mosaic performing under stage lights, the contrast between glossy darkness and sparkles of light give the motif graphic clarity. Matching stud earrings echo the same design offering companionship to the neckline in a classic yet decidedly unshy duet. Pendant earrings in rose gold cradle creamy mother- of-pearl beneath a single brilliant-cut diamond, while pavé fans the border like a chorus line.

Perhaps the most mischievous additions are the four single earrings. Designed to be worn alone or playfully paired, each features a different hue: a luminous mother-of-pearl, fiery carnelian, verdant malachite, and a coruscating turquoise. With pieces of Rome rendered in gemstones, together, they form a palette inspired by the polychrome hues of Terme de Caracalla.

Finally, a rose-gold necklace paved entirely in diamonds brings the collection back to pure brilliance. Letting the fan silhouette shimmer, it reads like a small architectural flourish to rest at the collarbone.

Historical yet irreverently modern, the pieces feel unmistakable Roman in spirit. And while the Divas’ Dream motif has appeared across the Maison’s universe on scarves, handbags, even the Bvlgari Spa interiors, only in jewelry does it reach its most intimate scale. After all, Rome was never meant to be admired from afar, and with Divas’ Dream, the city’s most glamorous curves are ready for the limelight.
