MAKE IT MINI

Written By: Lauren Cunningham

Downsizing isn’t always a bad thing, especially when the teeny tiny switch involves a British icon…

It’s official: tiny things are trending. Bag charms are booming, mini beauty products are almost too popular, and even adults are now collecting tiny toys. Yet, while the-smaller-the- better may not be the case in every scenario (cough, cough; wink, wink diamonds), when it comes to cars, one shrunken-down British star still reigns supreme: MINI, of course.

Making the cars even more modern, the boisterous brand has given a whole lot of attention to electric vehicles, with the aim  of fully electrifying the MINI model family by 2030. First up on the list: the famous MINI Cooper, more recently followed by the MINI Countryman and the brand-spanking-new MINI Aceman SE, which is gaining a whole lot of attention. Consider them a more planet- friendly upgrade on the originals, whose owners include Madonna, Michael Palin, and Paul McCartney as owners. Very chic.

MINI ACEMAN SE

The ace of space is the handy catchphrase used to describe the all-new MINI Aceman SE, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about the model. While it may look quite compact from the outside, the inside has received some incredibly clever interior styling to make it nice and spacious – five tall adults can comfortably sit inside. Plus, with a range of 406km and the ability to go 0-100 km in just 7.1 seconds, it’s safe to say it’s small yet mighty. But it’s not just the electric energy that makes it more sustainable. Its seats, which feel just as luxurious as leather, are made from 100% recycled textiles, while the new wheels contain up to 70% secondary aluminum, reducing CO2 emissions by 95% compared to brand-new materials. Now, that’s a pretty planet-friendly stat.

MINI COUNTRYMAN ALL4 SE

The MINI Countryman ALL4 SE is all about giving you a great driving experience while being super safe – it was just awarded a five- star safety rating by the European Consumer Protection Institute, didn’t you know? And with a range of 433km, it can also go quite the distance. When on the road, optional driving assistance helps take the stress out of staying in your lane by warning of blind spots, assisting with lane-keeping, and detecting rear cross-traffic. And it can even maintain speed, lane, and distance automatically. Easy. Plus, a new in-car personal assistant will help you with directions, calls, and those all-important tunes when you simply say, “Hey, MINI”. Who knew we needed a PA in our cars?

MINI COOPER SE

The Italian Job undeniably sold most of us on MINI, yet if you’re after an OG model, you’ll be best turning to the vintage market. Unless, of course, you want all the new bells, whistles and electric motors, in which case, set your eyes on the MINI Cooper SE. Giving a go-kart style feeling with enhanced driving dynamics, it’s designed to make driving feel fun again while still offering those touches of luxury living. Say hello to the built-in PA, a calm cruise control, and a minimalist cabin that creates clean surfaces and sleek lines so your small space feels, well, a lot larger. And, unsurprisingly, it can go the distance with a range of 402km.
