Buccellati Opens an Intimate Caviar Bar in Milan

At Via Montenapoleone 23, the Italian high jewelry maison translates its signature beaded silverware motif into a private sanctuary for hospitality and design.

Lately, caviar’s cultural capital has taken an intriguing turn. The briny delicacy has migrated from aristocratic banquet spreads directly into pop-culture, dolloped onto fast-food sandwiches and perched atop late-night chicken nuggets with equal measure. Yet long before salinity became a social media obsession, Buccellati was exploring this distinct bead-like texture through its iconic Caviar silver collection, first introduced in the 1930s as a masterclass in granulated silversmithing.

Now, the Italian maison is closing the loop between muse and medium. Tucked inside the historic Palazzo Gavazzi on Milan’s Via Montenapoleone, Buccellati had debuted an exclusive, two-story Caviar Bar.

The hideaway is realised as an opulent residential salon envisioned by Paris-based designer Chahan Minassian. Minassian strikes a perfect balance between nineteenth-century Milanese glory and modern warmth. Guests get to gander through an atmospheric gallery before emerging into a double-height lounge overlooking the palazzo’s tranquil courtyard. Above, glazed mezzanine frames the room’s dramatic verticality, while intimate bistro seating and plush banquettes anchor the floor below.

The result does not come off as a private rigid lounge, but feels more of a lived-in salon where Buccellati’s Art de la Table universe comes off the display pedestal and onto the table. Here, sturgeon roe is served alongside curated silverware, vibrant Ginori collaborations, and handblown Murano glassware. Imagine this setting the scene for an unforgettable afternoon with friends, lingering over drinks and mother-of-pearl spoons in hand. Well, the best part is that you do not have to leave it to the imagination. You can experience it firsthand – visit the Buccelatti Caviar Bar at Palazzo Gavazzi on Via Montenapoleone 23.
