Award-winning French filmmaker Alice Diop brings her unique vision to Miu Miu’s iconic fashion-meets-cinema series, Women’s Tales.

When fashion meets cinema, sparks tend to fly, and Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales series has been setting the screen alight for over a decade. Now, for its milestone 30th chapter, the house has enlisted none other than Alice Diop, the acclaimed French filmmaker whose work has already carved out a place in film history.

Her latest creation, Fragments For Venus, will make its grand debut on August 30th at the Venice Film Festival’s Giornate degli Autori. Expect Diop’s signature blend of precision and poetry.

Diop’s work has already left a powerful mark on contemporary cinema. Her piercing documentaries – La Permanence, Vers la tendresse – captured overlooked realities with radical empathy. Her fiction debut, Saint Omer (2022), won top honors at Venice, earning praise from Céline Sciamma, who called it a “cinema poem.” A film of exacting rigor, carried by Diop’s unmistakably poetic gaze.

For 15 years, Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales has been more than a film series: it’s a living archive of women’s imaginations, a fashion-forward anthology that’s spanned continents and genres. Now, with Alice Diop’s Fragments for Venus, the series steps into its most daring chapter yet.

Mark your calendars. Venice is about to witness a cinematic milestone that promises to be nothing short of unforgettable.
