STREETS OF STYLE AND SOUND: MISHAAL TAMER IN THE HEART OF LONDON
Written By: William Buckley
London streets set the scene as we unveil our latest digital cover, starring rising global artist Mishaal Tamer. Dripping in Dior Men’s Summer 2025, Mishaal blends effortless style with raw talent, taking us from his musical beginnings to his next chapter in music and acting. We talk about his creative process, his biggest collaboration, and the power of storytelling across borders.
WILLIAM BUCKLEY: Can you tell us about your first experiences with music? When did you realize you wanted to be a singer?
MISHAAL TAMER: When I was nine, I broke my arm; guitar was the physiotherapy. There wasn’t a particular moment; it was more of a slow, gradual realization.
WB: How has your multicultural background influenced your sound and songwriting?
MT: I suppose since I grew up on it, a lot of my work subconsciously ends up being inspired by it – sometimes not even intentionally. Other times, experimenting leads to something cool like “Baba Fein.”
WB: Was there a specific moment or turning point that made you feel like your career was taking off?
MT: I feel like I still haven’t had that moment yet. But there was a moment when my parents finally began to believe in me and my music. It was in my first performance – the day before, my mother was telling me that maybe I don’t have it in me to perform, and to be fair, their concerns were solid – I was a very shy kid. But I did it. They saw the people who came and the people who cried while screaming their son’s lyrics. It changed everything.

WB: How would you describe your musical style in three words?
MT: Just real music.
WB: What’s your songwriting process like? Do you start with lyrics, melody, or something else?
MT: I usually start with a melody, then I add some lyrics to it. Many times, when the melody and words come together, it feels like it comes from somewhere else – the music. I’m just happy to receive it and share it with my fans.
WB: Your music blends multiple genres. How do you navigate different influences while staying true to your artistic identity?
MT: By staying honest. The album Home is Changing is all over the place musically. You can literally hear my excitement for music in the production throughout the record. I just love music – I like the genres that I like, so I honestly hardly think about it. I try to stay true to the feeling I’m expressing rather than thinking too much about the technicality of what genre this is, etc…

WB: How do you stay inspired and continue evolving as an artist?
MT: I suppose just going out there – that’s where all the best stories come from. It’s something I definitely wanna do more of – leaving the house, I mean, haha. I need to live more.
WB: You’ve collaborated with various artists; who has been your favorite to work with so far?
MT: So far, definitely OneRepublic for Assassin’s Creed! Especially with shooting the music video in Malta – and we actually recorded that song while on tour in Europe!
WB: Is there a dream collaboration you hope to make happen in the future?
MT: There isn’t any specific one on my mind at the moment, but I’m definitely open to collabs on this next project – thinking about bridging some gaps through collabs.
WB: What’s your dream venue or festival you want to perform at?
MT: The Royal Albert Hall.
WB: In the not-too-distant future, where do you want to be?
MT: Hopefully writing more, recording more, and performing some more for fans. I also hope to see more people from my country continue doing what I’m doing now.
WB: Any upcoming projects or collaborations you can share with us?
MT: I’m actually going to be in my first movie soon. It’s called My Driver and I – it’s a collaboration with Saudi female director Ahd Kamel.
WB: And lastly, what’s your favorite sorbet flavor?
MT: Mango.
