BVLGARI ETERNAL: WEAVING THE PAST IN GOLD

Posted By: Sorbet

Bvlgari has always treated its history as a design vocabulary, one that evolves with every generation while remaining unmistakably Roman.

For a Maison with such a vast history, the archive is less a place of preservation and more a source of provocation. Bvlgari has always understood that looking back is not about sentimentality, but about sharpening its identity. With Bvlgari Eternal, the Maison revisits its creative legacy through a series of archival reimaginings, distilling decades of design into jewels that feel unmistakably now.

The story opens with Vimini, a contemporary interpretation of a 1942 bracelet created during the uncertainty of the Second World War. At a time marked by material restraint, Bvlgari turned confidently to gold. Named after the Italian word for wicker, Vimini draws inspiration from ancient weaving techniques once used by Greek and Roman artisans to craft everyday objects. That utilitarian reference is transformed into an undulating gold motif, rhythmic and architectural, shaped by the essential lines of Italian Rationalism. Executed in rose and yellow gold, the design highlights the chromatic contrasts and modularity that would become signatures of the Maison, as well as its enduring preference for warm gold over platinum.

Reimagined through the hands of Bvlgari’s designers and master goldsmiths, Vimini unfolds into a full jewelry line comprising a necklace, bracelet, ring, and earrings, alongside singular High Jewelry creations. At its core, the bracelet remains the emotional anchor. A fluid golden wave wraps the wrist, its rhomboid elements resting seamlessly against the skin thanks to invisible flexible links. Bold yet refined, it captures the balance between strength and sensuality that defines Bvlgari.

The necklace follows with the same sense of movement, gliding across the neckline and scattering light effortlessly. The ring softens the original module into a five band collapsible design, walking the line between contemporary classic and avant-garde. Verticality comes into focus with the earrings, articulated in a dangle that amplifies the glow of yellow gold, while a single ear cuff distills the Vimini motif into a modern accent.

The narrative extends into High Jewelry, where Bvlgari once again asserts its talent for innovation. Diamond Like Carbon, prized for its hardness and resistance, is introduced as a bold chromatic element. Its deep black surface creates a striking contrast with yellow gold and diamond pavé, lending the pieces a graphic intensity. Crafted as chokers, necklaces, and avant garde poncho style designs, these one of a kind creations push the language of gold into new territory.

Woven from history, shaped by innovation, and finished with unmistakable Roman allure, Bvlgari’s Vimini proves that through heritage, reinvention can flourish.
