With a skyline as attractive as Dubai’s rooftop restaurants are highly sough-after. Haute cuisine in the clouds is one of the city’s many signatures, but with countless postcard vistas to choose from, we never tire of the view. Rising above Palm West Beach, located in the Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah, Above Eleven Dubai is spoilt with 320-degree views that show off both cityscape and sea. As the sun sets, boats bob in the glittering Arabian Gulf, while skyscrapers reflect the coral tones of the sky. Setting the scene for cocktails an light bites on the terrace, the rooftop location offers an idyllic spot for al fresco dining and inside, you’ll meet an eclectic mix of Peruvian-Japanese influences, all inspired by Above Eleven’s original institution in Bangkok.

THE MENU
A fusion of Latin-American and Japanese cuisine, Chef Luis’ menu combines the rich culinary heritage of Peru with renowned Japanese precision. Appetizers include prawn tempura, anticuchos, maki rolls, and above Eleven’s take on ceviche (mixing seabass with leche tigre sauce and sweet potato). Next, Chef recommends a main course of arroz con mariscos with salsa criolla, lomo saltado complemented by choclo rice, or Patagonian toothfish with hoisin honey, miso, and mashed potato. Of course, Sorbet endorses the dessert menu, as we dipped into the gooey lava cake and the matcha layer cake topped with black sesame ice cream.
THE ATMOSPHERE
Aside from the food, Above Eleven puts on a performance for its guests with an atmosphere that mirrors the energetic nightlife of Bangkok. Every evening, resident DJs add to the ambience of sunset drinks, while percussionists enhance the rooftop spot from Thursday through to Saturday. The tunes and harmonies turn Above Eleven’s central terrace bar into a bustling hub where colleagues circulate for pos-work drinks, dates meet for the first time, and friends gather. After drinks, the kitchen is fired up and guests are invited to dine under the stars, surrounded by the glow of city lights. An elevated night of enchantment awaits…
