Inside La Beauté Louis Vuitton’s New LV Crayon and the ultimate blurred lip secret.

Historically, the Maison of Louis Vuitton has focused on savoir-faire at its utmost level. Take, for example, their exclusive Savoir-Rêver experiences, which showcase the highest form of craftsmanship and handmade, often one-of-one pieces. This traveling celebration of luxury recently docked at Dubai’s Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, taking over the entirety of its top floor. All this to say, Louis Vuitton is incapable of doing anything halfway.

That uncompromising dedication was beautifully evident last year when the Maison announced its expansion into cosmetics with La Beauté Louis Vuitton. Because Louis Vuitton settles for nothing less than the absolute best, they tapped Dame Pat McGrath to helm the creation of their haute beauty line. Having revolutionized modern makeup on global runways for decades, Dame Pat McGrath is M-O-T-H-E-R in the beauty industry. Her debut presentation for La Beauté Louis Vuitton did not disappoint. The inaugural collection, comprising LV Rouge, LV Baume, and LV Ombre, was quintessentially LV, centering on travel, ultra-luxury, and objects as desirable as any leather good on the runway. It reimagined makeup not just as a routine, but as a ritual and an objet d’art.

Now, Louis Vuitton expands on this vision with its latest release: LV Crayon, the House’s first-ever lip liner. Inspired by the precise backstage techniques that define Dame Pat McGrath’s iconic work, the line is engineered to pair seamlessly with LV Rouge and LV Baume to add an extra layer of definition and contrast.

“Every look I have created on the Louis Vuitton runway begins with the lip line; it is where precision becomes art,” says Dame Pat McGrath.

But don’t mistake this for purely backstage makeup. The LV Crayon is designed for everyday wear, boasting a featherlight yet intensely pigmented, velvety formula. As McGrath notes, the LV Crayon is a tool that deserves to be in the hands of every woman because it is both seamless to use and beautiful to hold.

And beautiful it is to hold. True to the La Beauté DNA, the LV Crayon is designed as an objet d’art. Crafted by Konstantin Grcic, the pencil features the unique Monogram Flower silhouette. But because this is Louis Vuitton, form always meets function. The flower-shaped barrel prevents the pencil from rolling and provides an ergonomic grip for ultimate precision. The aesthetic extends to the choice of matte black wood, echoing the velvety texture of the product itself. Visually, the pencil transitions from a glossy tip to a semi-matte body, reflecting the interplay of light and pigment, all topped with a gleaming golden Monogram Flower cap.

Finding the perfect shade to sculpt an effortless pout can be notoriously difficult, often requiring a cocktail of different pencils. La Beauté Louis Vuitton solves this with a curated lineup of the finest nudes and rosewoods, balanced by a selection of fearless, vivid reds. But these crayons aren’t launching alone. They arrive alongside the brand’s new Lip Blending Brush, designed specifically to master the “Blur Illusion,” which is the effortless, feathery lip look rocked by style icons like Lily-Rose Depp and Kaia Gerber. This soft-focus finish is incredibly dear to Dame Pat McGrath.

“The Blur Illusion is my love letter to the lip,” McGrath shares. “It is imperfect, it is romantic, and it is entirely addictive. Once you try it, there is no going back.”

When Dame Pat McGrath gives makeup advice, we listen. To achieve the runway-ready blurred lip, take your chosen shade of LV Crayon, pair it with your matching LV Rouge, and trace just slightly above your natural lip line to enhance volume. Then, using the new LV Lip Blending Brush, gently diffuse and buff the edges of where the liner was traced, melting the pigment inward for a perfectly soft, elevated, and romantic pout. With every new addition to La Beauté Louis Vuitton, the French Maison reaffirms its mastery of savoir-faire. We can only wait in anticipation to see which area of the face the House conquers next. What product are you hoping to see in their next drop?
