From the V&A’s Schiaparelli to Berlin’s Madame Grès, discover the seven essential fashion exhibitions defining the Spring 2026 season.
1. BELGIUM, THE ANTWERP SIX
MoMu celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Antwerp Six going international. For the first time, a major exhibition is devoted to the six fashion designers that put Antwerp on the map: Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene and Marina Yee.
2. SPAIN, THE GIVENCHIAGA FAMILY
Spain’s Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum pays tribute to Givenchy and his role within the Givenchiaga family. The Givenchiaga Family exhibition highlights the connections between Cristóbal Balenciaga and Hubert de Givenchy – their stylistic, working and personal affinity spanning 1956 to 1972.
3.LONDON, SCHIAPARELLI: FASHION BECOMES ART
From the opening of her London salon in Mayfair in 1933 to now being the star of the Victoria & Albert Museum. This Saturday, the V&A features over 400 objects from Schiaparelli ensembles to artworks, photographs, and archived materials. The iconic Skeleton dress and collaborations with Salvator Dalí are on display within the four chapters showcasing Elsa Schiaparelli’s beginnings, collaborations with artists, the part she played in the British surrealist movement, and her lasting legacy.
4. NEW YORK, IRIS VAN HERPEN: SCULPTING THE SENSES
A pioneer in the use of new technologies in fashion, the Brooklyn Museum hosts over 140 of Iris Van Herpen’s visionary Haute Couture creations. Alongside contemporary artworks by artists including Philip Beesley, Kim Keever, and Nick Knight, the exhibition explores the body and its relationship to clothing and its environment.
5. LOS ANGELES, OBSESSED: FASHION AND NOSTALGIA IN THE 90S
Acting as a counterpoint to the digital age, ASU FIDM looks back at the pivotal moment when analog met the internet. Through the work of designers like Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Anna Sui, Franco Moschino, Gianni Versace, and John Galliano, FIDM showcases how 90s fashion continues to inspire today’s creatives.
6. BERLIN, MANY SHADES OF GRÈS
Kunstgewerbemuseum presents the fascinating work of French couturier Madame Grès in a collection of 25 Grès pieces. prioritizing elegance and known for her timeless, Grecian-inspired draped gowns, KGM honors her signature hand-draped pleated designs.
7. PARIS, FASHION IN THE 18TH CENTURY: A FANTASIZED LEGACY
Peering through the Age of Enlightenment is Paris’ Palais Galliera. A Fantasized Legacy features over 70 silhouettes including Marie Antoinette’s corset, alongside fashion accessories, textiles, graphic arts, and photographs.
