Conversation starters from across the globe.

From vintage gems to summer blends, some of our favourite brands have been working hard on these seriously noteworthy showstoppers.

Icon: a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration. And on that note, Fendi is honoring its House staple accessories by calling them what they are: icons. Launched this spring, with a dedicated campaign fronted by Dutch model Yasmin Wijnaldum, Silvia Venturini Fendi’s namesake label is paying tribute to these accessories, the names of which are now part of the brand’s timeless heritage: the Peekaboo and the ’90s-revered Baguette it-bags; the Colibri heel; and the FF boot, are now taking center stage, marked with the iconic Fendi monogram. Whether you’re purchasing them for yourself (self-love is 2020’s buzzword) or you’ve inherited them, these Italian fashion statements’ posterity value is undeniable.

Once a heroine of Greek mythology, today’s modern reference to Antigona instantly makes you think of the cult Givenchy bag, and its signature triangular patch (or is it just us?). This fall, Clare Waight Keller, the House’s former Artistic Director proposes a more relaxed take on the iconic geometric-shaped bag. A supple variation, the Antigona Soft’s slouchy and flowing smooth calfskin leather accentuates the nonchalant Parisian feel the bag famously exudes. Offered in timeless colors as well as a seasonal palette of nudes, military green, and ice blue, medium and large styles are also available in dip-dyed leather and vintage leather, with applicable details. Not shown here: a beach-friendly option in leather and woven-cord.

Around the world, while we’ve all been in isolation, Miu Miu is inviting people from across the world – notable figures from the realms of sport, art, dance, and fashion, led by journalist Harriet Verney, Chinese actress Du Juan, and model Fei Fei Sun, as well as Miu Miu fans responding to a call-out on Instagram – to delve into their closets and pull out their vintage Miu Miu pieces, using their mobile phones to film themselves in their environment wearing their most loved pieces from collections past. These FaceTime moving-image self-portraits are being collated and curated for the first stage of this ongoing project, #MiuMe.

Don’t summer memories always have their own smell? Reminiscent of sun-kissed skin and dreamy landscapes, the fragrance you choose for your summer promises to be ever- engraved in your olfactive memory, so tread carefully. A striking contrast, the powerful blend allies desert-dry notes soothed by the presence of barely there sweet delicacies, teaming essences from the Middle East to the Far East for one unforgettable signature fragrance.

Unapologetic femininity. One would not be able to describe Aussie sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann’s label with more pertinent words. With the whole world in quarantine, YouTube home-tour videos are all the rage. After realizing we’d gone through the entire Netflix catalogue, the online platform quickly became the main escapism spot, with virtual visits to the 1%’s cribs a daily routine.
